Mazda Adds Class-Leading 1.9L Powertrain to BT‑50 Range

The All-New Mazda BT-50 with its mix of on-road refinement, off-road capability and class-leading safety credentials has been admired since its launch in 2020.

Last year we added the class-leading Takami grade to the range and this year sees the introduction of a new 1.9 litre turbo-diesel engine to the model range.

The new Mazda BT-50 GSX and GTX 1.9L models are ready to work and provide an exciting entry into the BT-50 model range.

With a CO2 output of 205g/km (3P-WLTP test cycle) the BT-50 GSX and GTX models equipped with the 1.9 litre engine offers the lowest CO2 of any diesel-powered double cab ute in the New Zealand market#.

David Hodge, Managing Director Mazda New Zealand, says “Customers will welcome the low CO2 output and economical nature of this new 1.9L powertrain as well as the considerably lower CCD fee. We believe that these factors are becoming a more important consideration for buyers.”

The economical four-cylinder turbo diesel offers strong performance generating 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque and is capable of towing a generous 3,000kg braked or 750kg unbraked. Furthermore, the maximum payload also increases to 1,150kg for the 2WD GSX and to 1,130kg for the 2WD GTX.

Additionally, the GSX grade – both 2WD and 4WD models have had a suspension update to improve the ride quality of the vehicle, particularly when unladen, while still enabling appropriate levels of payload to be carried with ease.

Other enhancements to the Mazda BT-50 extensive list of safety equipment include a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, (TPMS) now equipped to the GTX, Limited and Takami models for added safety by alerting the driver to a loss of tyre pressure.

All BT-50 models have a 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating (2022 tested) and feature a total of eight air bags including a driver’s knee and a driver’s far-side air bag.

For total peace of mind All-New Mazda BT-50 customers receive: (1) 5 Years/150,000 Km Comprehensive New Vehicle Factory Warranty, (2) $250 (inc. GST) Fixed Price Servicing Programme for 5 Years/150,000 Km, and (3) Free Mazda On-Call Roadside Assistance for 5 Years/Unlimited Km

The all-new Mazda BT-50 comes in 7 striking exterior colours – including the newly added Rock Grey Mica. The newly added GSX and GTX 2WD models are now available from Mazda Dealers nationwide in New Zealand priced at $48,740* and $52,740* (including GST, plus ORC).
