New Styling and Heightened Technology for Revitalised Mazda CX-8
Mazda’s versatile CX-8 SUV has received a comprehensive styling update and a suite of new technological features.
Exhibiting Mazda’s acclaimed Kodo – Soul of Motion design language, key exterior changes for the updated Mazda CX-8 include a block mesh pattern grille and grille surround, restyled front and rear bumpers, a new headlight and taillight design and a sleeker rear tailgate that compliments the SUV’s contemporary form.
Other visual upgrades include a series of new-to-Mazda CX-8 alloy wheel designs and Mazda’s latest body colour, Rhodium White, which becomes the third Takuminuri colour in the range and joins a now eight-strong paint palette. The Takami interior also receives a new look interior with Black Nappa Leather trim.
Inside the three-row 7-seater SUV, Mazda’s vibrant 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system now comes standard across the range, as does wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as USB-C ports.
Available in two grades, GSX and the class leading Takami grade, both models are powered with the twin-turbo diesel 2.2 L Skyactiv-D engine. The CX-8 delivers an impressive 450 Nm torque and peak power of 140 kW delivering a linear engine sound to match the degree of acceleration under high power engine conditions, while quieter and more economical performance in low speed/low load situations.
Mazda’s intelligent Drive Select or ‘Mi Drive’, with its high-level controllability lets the driver switch between Normal, Sport and Off-Road modes, is now equipped to the Takami model. Mi-Drive enhances the driving experience across a range of different surfaces, and the Off-Road Mode allows you greater freedom to explore the great outdoors. When activated, a suite of advanced technologies are engaged, so that whether you’re driving through snow, sand, or loose ground, the technology is designed to help maintain stability as well as Mazda’s trademark driving qualities.
Thanks to exhaustive research, testing and development, the updated Mazda CX-8 now gains an even greater reduction in noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) inside the cabin, equating to a quieter, smoother ride for the whole family.
Mazda New Zealand Managing Director, David Hodge, said the updated CX-8’s variety of new features and redesigned appearance would ensure it stayed at the top of Kiwi buyers’ wish lists.
“With this latest update, we have also extended our comprehensive Scheduled Service Programme to 5-Years or 100,000km, whichever comes first. This takes the Mazda CX-8 to another level, and together with its styling and technology, will ensure it’s a hit with Kiwi buyers for years to come.”
The new and improved Mazda CX-8 will go on sale in May 2023 from Mazda Dealers nationwide - priced at $61,490 for the GSX and $72,540 for the Takami (including GST, plus ORC). The combination of elegance and practicality makes the CX-8 a compelling package that’s hard to ignore especially when combined with the comprehensive 5-Year Mazdacare Programme – which includes a 5-Year/Unlimited km New Vehicle Warranty; 5-Year/Unlimited km Roadside Assistance as well as a 5-Year/100,000 km (whichever comes first) Scheduled Servicing Programme at no extra cost.
